DUMALAGUING, IMPASUGONG MICRO – HYDROPOWER PROJECT

 

THE PROJECT

The Micro –hydropower project is situated at Barangay Dumalaguing, Impasugong, Bukidnon, Island of Mindanao. The main funding partner is the UNDP-GEF Small Grants Programme for the micro hydro facility while the GVEP GAP Fund of the World Bank provided funding for the multiple milling.

The hydropower is a joint venture of the MLGU of Impasugong, Bukidnon and Kaanib Foundation, Inc. Yamog acted as technical partner. The hydropower is a 25 KW installed capacity. The project responds to the community needs for household lightings and post harvest facilities like corn and rice mill and coffee hulling.

About 156 Higaonon households availed of quality lighting, furniture making, refrigeration and household electrical appliances.

 

YAMOG ASSISTANCE

Yamog has assisted in the development of the Pre-Feasibility Study and full blown feasibility study. It also helped install the system and trained local operators and local electrician. Part of the system is the multiple milling which was established for corn and rice milling including coffee de-pulping.

 

 

ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION

The community is involved in the watershed management and protection of about 50 hectares. They plant indigenous trees and fruit trees. Barangay local government unit provided favorable policy in having declared part of the watershed area as protected area through a barangay ordinance.
